Oliver! is one of the most beloved British musicals of all time, bringing to life Charles Dickens’ wonderful characters with its timeless story of a young orphan boy’s journey from rags to riches.

Now in its fifth year, Sunderland Empire Stage Experience is a two week, not-for-profit theatre summer school for 9 to 25 year olds, which aims to give young people in the North East the opportunity to perform or be part of the technical team in a professionally produced musical. Successful participants work alongside a professional director, musical director, choreographer and backstage crew to train in singing, dancing, acting and technical theatre, before performing on the main stage for performances of Oliver!
